Hyatt’s New Promotion Details Finally Revealed, What Did You Get?

Hyatt teased us a month ago telling us there was going to be a new promotion coming for the first quarter of 2015 — but not telling us what it would be.

Starwood’s promo was live. So was Marriott’s MegaBonus. And IHG’s.

There’s been much electronic ink spilled in hermeneutical exegesis over what Hyatt’s hints would mean for the promotion.

For instance, yesterday One Mile at a Time suggested that in saying the promotion would be ‘one of their best’ that they must really mean it.

Now on one hand I don’t read too much into marketing hype, but at the same time saying that the promotion is “one of [their] best” is a pretty strong statement. .. If it were just the same type of promotion as in the past, I’d hope they wouldn’t say “it’s one of [the] best.”

Now we finally know what the ‘Stay More Play More’ promotion is.

It’s a series of targeted promotions, and you need to register to find out what yours is.

(Although I and several others have had success getting added to promotions I wasn’t targeted for.)

Register by April 30, and stays between January 15 and April 30 will earn tiered bonuses — as Hyatt has offered in recent times. All hotels participate, as is also Hyatt’s practice (and isn’t the practice of Starwood and Hilton) and MGM M life stays do count as well.

My offer is: up to 65,000 points for 25 nights

I’m a Diamond member and I maxed out the last offer of 50,000 points after 20 nights. So I’m guessing this is the toughest and most lucrative offer, but I’d love to hear what you receive.

Another common offer is 50,000 total points as we’ve seen before.

  • 5 Nights, 5,000 points
  • 10 Nights, 10,000 points
  • 15 Nights, 15,000 points
  • 20 Nights, 20,000 points

Oddly, I don’t have any qualifying Hyatt stays planned yet this year. I have at least 8 ineligible award nights during the promotion period. I have a bunch of Starwood stays, and some others as well. But I haven’t booked Hyatt yet. Perhaps I was waiting for the promotion.

This is neither super-generous, one of the best ever, nor disappointing. It’s about what I’d expect, and I’m happy to see it in the current environment and will be happy to earn some extra points.

What offer did you receive??

  1. At least MLife stays count this time. Thankfully. They were excluded from counting during the fall promotion.

  2. 8 year Hyatt Diamond win just over 25 stays last year. Got the 10 night/20k targeted promo. Not great but will take it.

  3. I got 2K/1 stay. Husband got 5K/2 stays.

Both are CC-holding Plats. Each had only one stay (CC annual free night) in 2014. No qualified 2014 stays.

  4. Generous!
Here’s your exclusive offer — selected just for you. Earn 2,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after your next eligible stay at any Hyatt hotel worldwide during our Stay More Play More promotion.

Simply register now and stay from January 15 through April 30, 2015 — then use your points toward free nights, room upgrades, relaxing spa treatments, delicious dining experiences and more.

  5. I’m Platinum, got the second offer you noted. My husband is Gold, he receives 2,000 points after 1st stay. I like his offer better as we are staying at Hyatt on the 30 of January. Maybe I’ll change reservation to his number.

  6. I presume Cash and Points stays meet the definition of Eligible Stay under this promotion (since the terms seem to require Eligible Rate) – but can this be confirmed?
    Thanks!

  7. I’m currently a diamond falling to Platinum in Feb because I didn’t have enough stays to maintain my status. I got the same offer as Gary.

  8. No status with only an occasional stay. Got the 20 nights = 50k points offer mentioned in your post.

  9. 2,000 for 1 stay
Last time I stayed with Hyatt was in 2009 at Park Hyatt Tokyo
I forgot about it and opened a new account which interestingly was eligible for the standard 5k for 5 nights offer
    Maybe they want me back?
Stay in Atlanta coming just in time 🙂

  10. I am a second year Platinum and this is the offer that I received. I only have 6 nights booked prior to April 30th.

    Stay Earn Total Points Earned
    5 Nights + 5,000 Points = 5,000
    10 Nights + 10,000 Points = 15,000
    15 Nights + 15,000 Points = 30,000
    20 Nights + 20,000 Points = 50,000

  11. A very lame offering. Given the hype from Hyatt, it sounded like FFN revisited. Instead, it’s a mild sop to very frequent business travelers. When everyone else looks good by comparison, you know you’re doing something wrong.

  12. This could change the calculus of the new Diamond trial offer. IF the cash+points rates are eligible for this promo, then it sounds like the trial costs would only be $600 + 9,000 net GPP for a category 1 property.

Same question as Bob. Can anyone confirm if Cash+Points rates are eligible? Thanks in advance!

  13. earn 2,000 Hyatt Gold Passport® bonus points after your next eligible stay

  14. I am a CC Plat and had in 2014 the two free CC nights, one anniversary night stay and one paid stay. I got the 5k points after two stays offer…

  15. Diamond (via challenge) wife got the 20 nights/50K offer (she’s an HHonors Gold via nights). With work trips coming up, she’s shifted all her nights to the Hyatt brand. In her case, the promos worked in Hyatt’s favor.
