About the American Airlines flight attendant on a PVG-DFW flight, I haven’t flown on a USA based airline in more than ten years and thus have missed out on all of the less than stellar service by the safety officers. I blame the person taking the flight for even considering taking a USA based airline across the Pacific.
Before renting I called Hertz and asked them if they supplied a cable to use at a friend’s house, they said no – and so did I.
How does a company rent EVs and NOT provide a charging cable? That would be like renting a gas-powered car and locking the gas tank cap so the customer couldn’t fill it up.
On second thought, at least they didn’t have him arrested.
For AA PVG-DFW, China should send a message to AA and whatever relevant unions that if “Karen” serves another flight to or from the country, AA’s entire business license is suspended.

About Customs: Not a frequent traveler here, at all. But in 2015 I returned from Amsterdam to IAD (Dulles) in November. HUGE crowds in lines waiting to clear Customs. It was probably peak time for arriving flights in late afternoon. I have no idea how many flights had come in – it seemed like 2000+ people waiting to pass through Customs. We stood in line for almost 2 hours. Then they just suddenly opened everything up and let everyone go. I think they realized it was hopeless, with other flights probably arriving to add to the problem. Normal weather too. There was one lone Customs official standing in the middle of the wide aisle heading out of the area, looking at faces, with a sea of people flowing past on either side of him. No luggage or people checked at all. I could have had a pound of cocaine and fruit and meat filled with dangerous agricultural bugs.
Seems like the situation at JFK could have been handled better. The woman was just looking for her bag and someone directed her towards the exit and when she tried to turn around to find her luggage the customs officer started laying her hands on this 57 year old woman to force her to exit without her luggage and the woman reacted. She shouldn’t have done it but seriously if the customs person was doing their job and paying attention they would have seen this person coming from the secured area and she would have listened instead of automatically trying to kick the woman out without her luggage. Now she is facing up to 8 years in prison?
@Bill – way to blame the victim (Customs Officer.) There is no excuse for assaulting another. Actions have consequences.

If an ordinary person went to a cop in New York and complained that somebody hit her like this, the cop would laugh and tell her that’s life and walk away. If your’re a customs officer, that’s a federal offense that can bring 8 years in federal penitentiary and the FBI is on the case.
