Capital One currently has just one airport lounge that’s open, at Dallas – Fort Worth. However we know several additional projects in the pipeline.

A couple of weeks ago I shared that the Capital One lounge at Washington Dulles appeared nearly done.
I’ve since learned that both the Washington Dulles and Denver lounges are expected to open in September.

The Washington Dulles lounge is going to be great when it opens, I’m sure. It’s going to be a special space – the base of the historic control tower.
It’s a bit smaller than I’d like at 9,100 square feet. The has been vacant space for years. Before the airport built the AeroTrain (and Pre-Check Security Lanes 50-55) this space was two restaurants and a food court. The airport authority advertised the space as including an upstairs observation deck. It’s attached to the main terminal building, so accessible to all passengers eligible for entry regardless of airline.
Meanwhile the Denver lounge is 11,200 square feet on the concourse A mezzanine.

It will feature relaxation rooms “with eye covers, blankets and other luxury amenities to help you recharge away from the crowds,” shower suites “with complimentary towels and hotel-inspired custom toiletries, plus a nursing room, kid-sized tables for families, and private meeting rooms based on the original release from the bank.
Airport lounges are never open until they’re open. A September opening could still be pushed to October. But both lounges are close and the expectation is that Washington Dulles and Denver will both open that month. As I wrote in mid-July, I expect the Dulles location to be first.

Are all owners of a VISA or Mastercard Capital One credit card allowed entry ?
I peeked in the doors this morning of the iAD Lounge. They are about a week away from being ready to open …if they wanted to ….but its been 3.5 years since Capital One announced this lounge to great fanfare so I’m not holding my breath.
If you are departing for an Austrian flight to Vienna out of IAD how far will it be from the gate?
Will the lounge allow arrivals?
Cap1 has done an excellent job designing their lounges and providing amenities. The question is will it be overrun like the DFW lounge, where you have to get on a waitlist to enter?
I’m looking forward to the Denver location to open. DEN is a stop over for many people. I just hope that DEN finishes up their other projects and get people through security in a timely manner.
The Cap One lounge should be about a 15 minute walk to the Austrian gates in A. I tend to walk when going directly to A. Though I also now mostly spend time in the Polaris lounge when traveling Austrian or LH in business. Hopefully, this new lounge will decrease the crowding in the other lounges.

Thanks for the updates that are hard to come by! As someone who makes detours through DFW just for the lounge, I’m super excited. IAD is my home airport, going to fly out from there Labor Day week so looks like I’m going to be a little early.
Planning on flying through DEN via IAD in October so hopefully can catch both!

Any word on them opening one in PHX, DFW and PHX are the main hubs I go through so that would be a huge plus for me.

I’ll believe theyre open when I see they’re open. I was told by someone working at the DFW lounge last December that DEN was opening in February. I canceled my card after a year of having it because the lounges that were supposed to open last year never did as well as that shady move of taking away PP restaurants with no notice. Why did I have to find out on this website and not by an email from Capital One? Chase Sapphire Reserve all the way. And I mostly fly out of DCA and IAD.
For the question about the DCA landing being operated by plaza premium. All the CO lounges are operated by them but do not let in PP. I would assume DCA would be the same.
Darn, I had booked a non-refundable trip through Dulles anticipating the lounge open by 8/28 based on the last update from Pizza in Motion.
Don’t hold your breath. It costs $69 to enter. And anyone can go in there. If you have a 10 hour layover it might be worth it but I’m pretty sure there’s a time limit too.
re: IAD, small lounge but the airport is probably the only one in the US that has a ton of priority pass coverage AND has a relatively small passenger base (particularly relative to the size of the DC metro area).
Who gets entry to the IAD Capital One lounge ? Does having a Capital One credit card make it possible, or what ?
Only Capital One Venture X card holders get unlimited free visits, holders of the regular Venture card I believe get 2 free visits per year.
The company I work for has been involved with work in the lounge since September of last year. There has been numerous construction delays but I would imagine the club opening in the next couple weeks as it is nearly finished and all mechanical systems and IT is up and running.
The observation deck plans were not approved, maybe at some point in the future it is added as it would have been a great feature!
Fingers crossed for no more delays as I have a business trip to DC from Denver scheduled for mid September.
