  1. With the outrageous prices being charged by car rental companies, I have taken a good hard look at the use of my rental cars. I have realized it is cheaper and easier on me to use Uber/Lyft, local mass transportation ( bus or tram/train ), and walking. With gas and rental fee prices added to parking, it just doesn’t make sense. On multiple city trips I am usually forced back to cars but multiple night stays in cities they have lost me. Add, I don’t want to be jailed by Hertz and their stupidity.

  2. Hertz didn’t necessarily pay for the ad. Not all advertisers pay for just an impression. It’s the deep funnel conversion (layman’s terms: actually renting a car) that counts as successful and if Hertz is smart it would pay the ad network for that. Not for a cheap banner impression.

  3. I read the article about Hertz arresting readers and then saw the post about the Hertz banner ad that someone else saw while reading a similar story . . . As I was reading, on my monitor a large vertical ad appeared on the right side AND a banner ad appeared across the bottom of the page! It took me a moment to realize this was not related to the story, that these were Hertz paid-for ads. I was gobsmacked and sat staring with disbelief. As I started to do a screen grab, the ads changed. Hertz needs to have a sit-down with their ad agency. Whoever is setting the parameters for their online ad placement either has a wicked sense of humor or is sabotaging the Hertz account, which is rather amusing given the way the company has been sabotaging the lives of so many innocent customers.
