Bali’s Vice Governor has announced that tourism will re-open in October, limited to visitors from four countries. Americans are included.
Bali Vice Governor, Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati (Cok Ace) confirmed that as a response to the latest statement from the central government about the reopening plan on October 2021, Bali provincial government has begun their preparation stages, including choosing several countries that will be welcomed to visit the island once the border reopens in the near future.
“We have selected multiple countries such as Russia, America, Germany and England to start implementing the travel bubble program based on their length of stay in Bali. And visitors from those countries usually spend around 2 weeks on the island.” Cok Ace said on Monday (27/9).
Indonesia has administered approximately 50 vaccine doses per hundred residents, though Bali in particular is highly vaccinated, even if the Bali Vice Governor’s numbers are too high to be believed,
According to the recent data, around 97% of Bali residents have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 75% of people have completed the second dose. The vaccination program is expected to finish in the beginning of October.
Bali is heavily tourism dependent and assures that it has the infrastructure in place to handle any surge in cases stemming from re-opening with 62 hospitals prepared to take patients and 25 labs that can do PCR testing. There is also a plan to restrict activity if cases surge,
- “allowing tourist to access the appointed green zone areas if Covid-19 cases begin to surge”
- “reducing the mobility of the tourist inside green zone areas if Covid-19 cases keep on surging”
Bali had a plan to re-open last year that didn’t come to fruition, overruled by Indonesia’s federal government. So Bali won’t be open until it is open. I had a trip planned for this fall back in late 2020 that I’ve scrapped in favor of going elsewhere, even though it’s still quite possible – probable even based on this plan – that the destination would have been open to me.

I believing reopening and allowing the four countries is a good thing considering the rate of affected countries around the globe. Am sure it’s going to boost the economy. Good information Gary!
And according to this article, with much of the same info already posted, another minister was quoted as saying that the US is still a high-risk country and thus tourists from there would still be subjected to an 8 day quarantine

The Bali government has often been overly optimistic on the island’s reopening only to find themselves at odds with the Indonesian government that overrides their plans. I’d take this with a grain of salt. I’d also want to hear what kind of reduced quarantine would still be required.
62 hospitals in Bali?! I used to be in the medical tourism business, and we had ~10 dental clinics there, so I went all over the island visiting medical facilities. There’s BIMC (3 branches), Siloam Hospital, and the Sanglah Public Hospital (think there’s a couple of branches). That’s it, and if I got sick, I’d only go to BIMC. And I wouldn’t really want to go there.
Won’t be visiting Bali for a while…
Why is australia not included, we are desprate to get back to bali, this is wrong, we will be fully vaxanated, and can take a test, but no qarintine, wwe spend a lot of money there, dont lock us out ,this is bad and hurtfull to us
