- Back in February the Department of Transportation let American squat on its Chicago – China route authorities. The airline dropped the routes after losing “tens of millions if not hundreds of millions” of dollars. Still they told DOT “Non-stop service between American’s Chicago hub and China is a critical part of American’s strategy for growth in Asia” and the government gave them until June 28 to re-start flying. Instead of doing that American has given back the route authority surprising absolutely no one.

- Boeing using outsourced software programmers to fix the 737 MAX that they
found on Fiverrare paying $9 an hour in India.Meanwhile when the MAX is, ultimately, approved to fly again the decision appears as though it’ll be made in coordination with safety regulators in Europe, Canada and Brazil. - Delta coach awards to Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador just 12,000 miles roundtrip

@Steve – besides Embraer, it could be related to GOL also. They have 100+ on order, are the biggest Boeing customer in South America, and a major NG operator.
I clicked on the link “Boeing using outsourced software programmers to fix the 737 MAX” above which links to a Bloomberg Article. OMG.
It says: “Starting with the 787 Dreamliner, launched in 2004, it sought to increase profits by instead providing high-level specifications and then asking suppliers to design more parts themselves.” No wonder the batteries on the 787 were exploding.
Further, Boeing fired its senior engineering staff and outsourced the work primarily to India due to cost concerns. A significant portion of the engineering for the 737 Max was done in India.
Unbelievable. Everyone should read the article for themselves.
