  1. Yikes, more evidence AA is thinking about moving to a fixed redemption value on miles. It seems like they’re trying to just make that a bit higher than Delta, like 1.2 cents per mile versus Delta’s efforts to get it to 1 cent.

The offer I got to buy back PLT had it at just over 150,000 miles – well under 1 cent per mile.

    Wow, that’s terrible!

  4. Early in the year was offered complimentary Platinum status and 20 upgrades through May of this year. Did not respond, no thanks. Not until Dip Parker is gone and AAdvantage is improved. Not worth it for FREE.

  5. Wife and I have been Plat with AA for several years but due to their stupid EQDs and burning some miles to Spain instead of buying tickets, we lost all status after Jan 31. But we keep getting emails wanting us to buy gold for $645 or 64.5k miles and plat for $1445 or 144.5k miles. I am just going to ignore it and go with the flow this year. Of course, I never get the emails offering free plat for 3 months or whatever it is others get.
