IHG Rewards Club is running a 50% off award night redemption sale for Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. Book by May 7 for stays in May and June for half the points.
In 2016 they ran this in August. In 2015 they also ran it in August. In 2014 it was in April.

As I’ve noted in the past, they’re running discounts because of low season and empty hotels. Presumably they solicited properties to participate who were willing to take less compensation from the program for reward nights, looking to stimulate bookings and of course resorts tend to generate revenue from guests beyond room rate.
Since room rates at some of these properties will be low, it’s worth comparing the points prices and cash prices even at 50% fewer points before booking for the nights you’re interested in.

Actually, they’ve ran this promotion in both April and August the past few years.
HIX Puerto Vallarta has executive suites (more like junior suites) available at the discounted rate of 10,000 points per night.
Loved our stay at the IC Cozumel in January. Staff are terrific. On the first day basically had the place to ourselves.
